Variety – The Children’s Charity assists at-risk children
by providing medical treatment, artificial limbs and special equipment
for afflicted children to help them become more mobile. We help fight
illiteracy and offer scholarships. We support local hospital and major
university research. We provide afterschool curriculums to keep kids off
the streets.
We
fund crisis centers, hotlines, and therapy. We fund
pediatric AIDS and cancer research. Many disabled children are served
by our Sunshine Coaches, generously sponsored by the Ford Motor Company,
providing much needed transportation and, in conjunction with our Variety
At Work program, taking kids to outreach activities. Sometimes, we are
there to simply give a hug.
With a seven-decade legacy of caring for children across the globe,
Variety – The Children’s Charity has become the largest and
most effective children’s charity in the world. The organization
has grown to 53 chapters in 14 countries, raising over $1 billion to assist
the treatment and care for disabled and disadvantaged children.
"The Heart of Show Business," Variety – The
Children’s Charity finds its roots in the Entertainment Industry.
The Variety Club, established in 1927 by eleven Vaudeville showmen, still
exists today for one reason – to help children in need.
Variety – The Children’s Charity’s mission is to
provide life-saving and life-enriching assistance to children challenged
by physical and mental disabilities, poverty, abuse and neglect.
Through grants, scholarships, cultural enrichment programs, outreach
activities and other donations, Variety – The Children’s Charity
is able to support programs that will mean the difference between a life
worth living and, too often, no life at all.
Dedicated men and women give their time, talent and resources to make
Variety work. Variety – The Children’s Charity is an organization
of volunteers who enjoy the great feeling that helping a child gives you – the
reward of knowing that because of your efforts, you have made a difference
in the life of a child.
